YOU don't have to be an adrenalin junkie to enjoy the fun organised by a business that bears the descriptive title of Relative Madness, but a sense of adventure would be a distinct advantage.
Relative Madness is a club for the over-18s, the brainchild of Leanne O'Brien.
It's her job to organise exciting and different activities and events and every one of them is staged in the Hunter's own backyard.
The list is an extensive one and includes skydiving, abseiling, aerobatic flights, dolphin cruises, archery tournaments and bike tours.
Apart from an interesting list of pre-arranged activities, Ms O'Brien also organises tailor-made events for groups with specific interests.
'The biggest surprise for customers is when they realise that just about anything they want to try can be catered for in the Hunter,' Ms O'Brien said.
'It's always amusing to hear people say "Wow! I never knew this was here. How did you know about it?"
'I just tell them it's my job to know.
'There are so many small businesses in the region that are involved with the outdoor recreation industry not to mention indoor activities.
'Up until now there's been no singular force to find out about them.
'It's just great to be promoting Newcastle from within.
'Everyone knows what a truly unique and fantastic place the region is and I'm just offering them an opportunity to enjoy what's here.'
The regular newsletter published by Relative Madness outlines a wide range of activities, events and adventure sports on offer.
February's list includes a wine tour, an international banquet, an aerobatics flight, a jet ski outing, a bike tour and hot-air ballooning.
'There is a Relative Madness club and members receive a discounted price on all activities.
'It's becoming an increasingly popular way to meet people and enjoy what the region has to offer.'
